I walked in the rain on the road by myself
and came face-to-face with the end.
I lifted my head and looked around,
but couldn't see where to ascend.
I turned around to head down the trail,
but there was no trail to be found.
I turned again to find a way,
but there was no way to abound.
No great time went away and I found myself
in a panic with tears in my eyes.
There was no path to lead me home,
no way to say my "goodbyes".
I stood by a tree and a thought came to mind:
'I can wander and hope to be found.'
And then a thought against the first
came to me and made me sit down.
I sat and yelled with the highest of hopes
that someone would come my way
and hear the cries I shouted out,
then come to save the day.
I fell asleep after day turned to night
and later awoke to another day.
I looked about and found a trail
that had been covered by the rain.

Waiting for Love - Drew Adams
Created 3/22/09
I want to be greedy and steal her away
because I'm scared if I don't I may lose her,
but I have to wait until she's ready
or else she may hate me forever.
She calls my name like an angel would
and it makes my heart stop beating.
Her eyes are a soft and gentle blue
and to God I am still pleading.
Pleading for a chance to get a moment with her
and just talk about things of the past.
She would get the chance to know me more
and finally on me her eyes would cast.
She might wait until we both were ready
and my heart wouldn't race with such speed.
If she knew me at all, or well enough,
I wouldn't need to steal her with greed.
I want to be greedy and steal her away

The Moon - Drew Adams
Created 3/22/09
As the moon shone down a bright new ray,
the whole world seemed to grin.
The sun was gone for an hour or two
and the stars sat low and dim.
The moon smiled and winked at the bright blue earth
and felt whole and full of life,
for the sun agreed to give him a chance
to prove his worth and might.
He glowed brighter as the minutes passed
and then went dim and low.
As he looked down to see the earth,
the life was sleeping down below.
The sun came up and saw the moon
and asked him what was wrong,
but all the moon could utter out was:
"I don't shine as bright or long.
When they see you they're full of life,
but with me they fall asleep.
Why should I stay when no one wants
a moon who's light it can not keep?"
The sun looked sad and whispered out:
"You must not understand.
They need you as much or more than me.
You give them hope for tomorrow's demands.
Your gentle glow relaxes them;
it's when you're gone they seem to cry;
and when you're up they all cheer
as if they can not die.

Last Regrets - Drew Adams
Created 2/4/09
We all have those tiny things
we wish we had or did,
but my regrets, like some I know,
are what I couldn’t dig.
I couldn’t dig a tunnel
to escape this mortal life
so full of lifeless monsters
that won’t die by worldly knives.
They stab my heart and torture me
for an endless time each day,
but I still prayed: “God please help me!”
and looked for one bright ray.
There are still no rays that can be found,
I’m just not looking right.
Most people think that you must look
at the very dark of night.
I’ve looked for rays both night and day
but I couldn’t seem to find
a single ray of brightness
until I opened up my mind.
I found that my real regret
was not the one I thought;
it was that I never left
the sea of monsters that I fought.
We all have those tiny things
we wish we had or did,
but my regrets, like some I know,
are what I couldn’t dig.
I couldn’t dig a tunnel

so full of lifeless monsters
